Hey,
My name is Jackie, and I'm the founder and artist behind Jack & Jay, a stationery business and creative collective in the Cowichan Valley, on Vancouver Island. I'm a certified Visual Arts teacher, with over 10 years experience teaching in the private and public school systems. Now, I teach outside the classroom, to individuals looking to have fun, learn something new, and experience mindful creativity. Named after myself and my sweet kiddo, Jack & Jay represents everything I'm passionate about: creativity, education, meaningful connections, and authentic community.
Together, we're building community through creativity in the Cowichan Valley.

Our Story
In 2021, Jack & Jay began from a place of necessity. As a teacher and a new mom with little time for self-care, I felt like I was running on empty. I knew I needed to turn things around, and quickly. One evening, I rediscovered a forgotten calligraphy kit and created a welcome card for our new neighbours. That simple act sparked something in me I hadn't felt in years. Soon, I was crafting cards every night, and connecting with friends and family in a tangible, heartfelt way. As my skills grew and my creativity bloomed, I realized how vital this practice was for my well-being. It wasn't just about making pretty things; it was about spreading joy and fostering connections.
With those connections as my inspiration, I took the leap and started Jack & Jay Custom Cards & Designs. Now, if I'm not designing cards and stationery, I'm teaching others how to experience mindfulness through art classes and creative workshops. These classes are the heart of my business, allowing me to share my passion and techniques with others who are eager to explore their creativity. One of my favourite things about a positive art studio space is not necessarily the artwork that comes from it, but the meaningful connections and empowerment that follow. As a high school teacher, I have seen so many students find purpose and allyship in the art studio, feeling like they have found a place to belong. In my workshops, I see the same thing. Individuals that were once silent participants have come back over and over, sharing themselves, and finding community. Helping others to grow their creativity, while connecting with others, is the powerful transformative work that I know is both my passion and my purpose.
In my workshops, I see the same spark in my students' eyes that I rediscovered in myself. Whether we're crafting cards, exploring new art forms, or just having fun with colours and textures, we're building our community through creativity. ♡
